Late February Fishing Outlook Strong

Now that we've exited what likely is the coldest week for the Madison Valley this winter, things are turning around rapidly as far as improving conditions go. But, when you're leaving behind -30 temps for a week, anything is an improvement. Here's the graph for the Kirby Gauge this morning (just upstream from the West Fork confluence). That's a graph trending in the right direction...

A look at the weather forecast for the next 10 days, especially the next 3, we're going to have some golden opportunities for good mid winter fishing. Midge dry flies definitely. Stonefly nymphing absolutely. Streamer game probably strong on the banks. We don't get many of these types of opportunities mid winter. I'll definitely be out there creeping around looking for rising heads. If I find some, I'll do a little post on my midge dry fly strategy.
